SIGNS ITS TIME TO REPLACE YOUR HOME'S VINYL SIDING
It is important to inspect your home’s exterior regularly. This will give you a better picture if the condition of your existing vinyl siding or other exterior covering. Here’s what to look for:
It is important to detect dry rot before it is noticeable. The fungus that causes dry rot can start below the siding’s surface, eventually eating away at the inside of your siding. Siding that has been affected by dry rot can still look good on the outside, while be decaying on the inside. You can test for dry rot by tapping on your siding with the rubber handle of any tool.
YOU KEEP REPAINTING YOUR HOME
Do you find yourself applying a new coat of paint to the exterior of your home every 5-6 years due to peeling, cracking, or chipping? This is a telltale sign it is time to install new vinyl siding. Quality siding will maintain its shape and color for at least eight to ten years.
WARPED OR ROTTED SIDING
It is important to perform frequent visual inspections of all areas of your home’s exterior siding. Be sure to poke under siding that appears warped to determine if the underneath layer is still intact if it feels soft or has started to rot this is a clear indication it is time to replace your siding.
INCREASED COOLING AND / OR HEATING BILLS
Every Connecticut homeowner knows there are many reasons for sudden spikes in your heating and cooling bills. But did you know that your old vinyl siding could be the culprit? The combination of low-grade wall insulation, with old underperforming siding, could impact your home’s energy bill. It is important to check your siding seams for air leaks.
LOOSE OR CRACKED SIDING
Siding can become loose or crack over time. With frequent inspection, 1-2 loose or cracked siding planks can be replaced on an individual basis. However, if left unrepaired these siding panels can result in moisture leaks, dry rot, and further damage.
INSPECTING INSIDE YOUR HOME
It is important to inspect not only the exterior but also the interior of your home. Lose wallpaper or peeling paint can be a sign of moist seeping through your faulty old siding into your wallboards and drywall.
Even tiny holes in your siding should be investigated. Holes in siding are typically a sign that insects have gotten into your siding. This type of deterioration can contribute to mold and mildew growth.
MILDEW, FUNGUS, OR MOLD
Mold growth on the exterior of your home, particularly near the seams, may be a sign that water is penetrating through to your interior walls. This type of leak can create mildew, fungus, and/or mold in your home.
If you see bubbles under your vinyl siding this is a big red flag that water is being trapped behind the siding panels. Properly installed siding should prevent this and keep moisture away from your interior walls.
Fading is usually a sign that the vinyl siding’s waterproofing has begun to deteriorate. Most types of siding are built to hold their color for as long as guaranteed by the manufacturer, however, all siding must eventually be replaced.

Awesome customer service, very personable, kind and helpful, they move quickly so the job finishes fast. Would highly recommend them for any of your spaces. They did sheetrocking, painting, closed off a window, and put new siding up. Definitely a company I will contact first before any other company in the future.Amanda C12/12/2018
